Saturday, January 24th, 2009A Shocking Question!
Friday, January 23rd, 2009Hello 5th Graders,
My students have been learning about weather and severe storms. This week, we learned about thunderstorms. As you know, thunderstorms create bright flashes of static electricty called lightning. Lightning rapidly heats and expands the air, which creates an explosion of sound that we know as thunder. Here is the all - important question.
Why do we see a lightning stroke before we hear the exploding thunder?
That’s a fair question and I’m glad you posted it.
